David Moyes’ West Ham United are looking to sign a new forward before the end of the window and have their eyes on Flamengo forward Pedro.
According to a report by Portal iG, West Ham United are desperately looking for a new number nine. The Hammers are expected to sign a new forward before the end of the transfer window and they have their eyes set on Flamengo’s Pedro.
The Hammers were not at their best last season. They might have won the UEFA Conference League but they were poor in the league. And, one of the major reasons was their inconsistent attack which failed to fire.
Since the end of last season, David Moyes has been on the lookout for a new number nine. But, he is yet to sign anyone. They are still in the race for a few forwards and are expected to sign someone before the end of the transfer window.
Their regular striker Michail Antonio is already 33 and it seems to be the right time for West Ham to invest in a new top striker. Meanwhile, signing a new forward could lead to Antonio’s departure as he won’t accept a backup role.
The London club wanted to sign Yuri Alberto from Corinthians but they failed to agree on a deal with the Brazilian club. After failing to land Alberto at the club, the Hammers have started looking elsewhere for a new forward and have their eyes on Flamenho’s Pedro.
The 26-year-old has been in red-hot form in the 2023 calendar year having scored 27 goals so far. Pedro has done wonders since joining them back in 2020 and he could be headed to a return to Europe given the amount of interest in his services.
According to the report, West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten is in Brazil as their search for a new striker continues. He could end up playing an integral role in helping them sign the former Fiorentina star.
While the Hammers are trying to land him at the club, Flamengo do not intend to sell him in the ongoing window. Meanwhile, there is a €60 million release clause in his contract. With his contract running until the end of 2027, the Brazilian club will have the upper hand in the negotiations. As a result, West Ham will have to break the bank to secure his services.
