Stade Rennais’ £7.7 million offer for the services of Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez has been turned down.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have rejected an offer from Stade Rennais for the services of Davinson Sanchez. While Spurs are willing to negotiate the 27-year-old defender’s departure, the offer from the Ligue 1 club was way too low. As a result, it has been knocked back by the London club.

Rennes are keen on bolstering their defence before the end of the transfer window. The French club are looking for an experienced centre-back, and they have had their eyes on Sanchez of late. They were in talks with the English club over a potential transfer and had recently submitted a bid worth £7.7 million.

But, unfortunately, their offer has been knocked back by Spurs. With the bid by the Ligue 1 club rejected, it will be interesting to see if Rennes return with an improved offer in the days that remain in the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Sanchez’s future at Tottenham is uncertain and a move in the ongoing transfer window is very likely. His contract runs out next summer and offloading him now will allow the London club to recoup a part of the £42 million fee that they had paid back in the day to land him at the club.

Since arriving at the club in a deal worth around £42 million, the 27-year-old has been an important part of their first team. He has featured in a total of 207 matches for the London club and has even contributed towards six goals.

While he has been a regular feature in the Tottenham first team, the Colombian international has failed to live up to the expectations. And, of late he has gone down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With the transfer deadline day near, Spurs are looking to offload a few of their players and the 27-year-old is a part of that list. Tottenham might have rejected Rennes’ offer but they are ready to negotiate if the right offer arrives. And, there are quite a few clubs interested in having him in their ranks.

Earlier in the transfer window, Spurs had accepted a bid worth £12.9 million from Spartak Moscow. While the move did not take place, it gives us a clear idea of around how much a club will have to offer to sign the former Ajax defender.
