Premier League newcomers Luton Town have contacted Arsenal to enquire about the availability of Rob Holding.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Luton Town have joined in the race for Rob Holding, with other clubs also lining up for the 27-year-old Englishman. The Gunners expect the defender to leave, with the Premier League newcomers in the mix to determine if they can sign the centre-back.

Recently, Rob Holding has garnered plenty of interest from suitors across three countries. The 27-year-old Englishman does not have a place in Mikel Arteta’s plans this season as the Gunners look to offload the centre-back at the earliest.

With little time left in the window, the Gunners have a bloated squad, although they have done plenty of outgoing business recently. Kieran Tierney has left for Real Sociedad, while Folarin Balogun’s move to AS Monaco seems on the verge of completion.

Nuno Tavares could also leave for Nottingham Forest, although Nicolas Pepe, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Holding are still here on uncertain terms. Arsenal expect the defender to go before Friday’s deadline. But whether they manage a permanent sale remains the question.

There have been enquiries from Turkey and Spain recently, with Sevilla asking Arsenal for conditions regarding the 27-year-old Englishman. There is also interest from RCD Mallorca. And now, Premier League newcomers Luton Town have entered the chase.

They are not alone as Crystal Palace also hold an interest in Holding. However, Luton Town’s name has been doing rounds in the media for a few days now, with the Premier League newcomers eager to land someone with the know-how of this league.

Luton may not have seen Holding as their priority target, as they wanted Newecastle United’s Isaac Hayden. As per talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, a move for Hayden may have fallen through, and hence, the league newcomers are angling for a move for the Arsenal defender.

Arsenal will likely sell the 27-year-old Englishman outright for a decent fee. Holding has played 98 times in the Premier League for the Gunners but failed to make the matchday squads for each of their three games this season.

Though they are not his definitive option, Holding will bring much-needed experience to this Luton side. There are Spanish clubs in the mix, although if another Premier League club, like Crystal Palace, come in, Holding might choose them over anyone else.
