Fulham are eyeing a late summer raid for Everton star Alex Iwobi.
According to Daily Mail, Premier League side Fulham are eyeing a late summer swoop for Everton star Alex Iwobi before the transfer window slams shut in the coming days.
The Cottagers enjoyed a brilliant 2022/23 campaign back in the top flight and are keen to build on their success this campaign. The loss of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal has left them short in attack. So Fulham are keen to address it before the summer window slams shut.
Iwobi has emerged as an option and could be available for a move. The Toffees brought in Arnaut Danjuma (On loan) and Jack Harrison this summer, meaning the 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park. Sean Dyche should sanction an exit for the former Arsenal star should he be deemed surplus to requirements.
The 27-year-old Nigerian is a versatile attacker capable of donning multiple hats. He can do a job out wide on either flank and also serve as an attacking midfielder if needed. While his time at Everton has not really set pulses racing, he could rekindle the old flame in the right system.
Marco Silva will be familiar with Iwobi, having briefly managed him in the final months of his Everton tenure. He should be aware of what the Nigerian brings to the table. A solid crosser who can retain the ball well, Iwobi would be a solid addition to the Fulham roster.
He will not just offer them more attacking impetus but also enough strength in depth to sustain a season long campaign. Everton are a team on the decline and look set for another relegation dogfight. Iwobi appears to have reached the end of the road at Goodison Park and a new challenge could be the tonic for the 27-year-old.
Fulham harbour ambitions and could help him achieve that. However, Everton need all the help they can get in what should be another long and hard season. Whether that will be with Iwobi on the roster remains to be seen.
