West Ham United are still angling to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, as David Moyes plans one more attempt before the window shuts.

According to Football Insider, West Ham United could place yet another move for Conor Gallagher. Chelsea may see value in considering offers late in the window, having sufficiently strengthened their midfield, but the 23-year-old may want to stay at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham United have had an underrated transfer window, with David Moyes finding some brilliant options to strengthen his squad. So far, the Hammers have climbed to second in the Premier League table, with their latest win over Brighton & Hove Albion ensuring they will finish there no matter what happens elsewhere on Sunday.

One of their new signings, James Ward-Prowse, has settled in well and is already contributing regularly. However, Moyes wanted Conor Gallegher well before they made moves for the former Southampton skipper and Ajax man Edson Alvarez.

They are also closing in on Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, making West Ham seem like a daunting team, especially now that they will likely keep Lucas Paqueta, too. Now, Moyes wants the club to make another attempt to sign Conor Gallagher and take their chances, especially if Chelsea show a positive response.

Chelsea had rejected a £40 million bid from the Hammers for the midfielder. Gallagher seemed uninterested in making the switch to the London Stadium, but things have changed considerably at Stamford Bridge since.

The arrivals of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia will make them starters ahead of Gallagher. Yet, the midfielder may want to stay put at Chelsea and fight for his place, as reports suggested he was not keen on returning to Crystal Palace as an offer may have arrived.

If they do decide on letting the midfielder leave, Tottenham will also remain alert about the situation. Previously Mauricio Pochettino did not want Gallagher to join Spurs, and that stance may prevail. However, Chelsea have shown recently they mean business, and could open the doors to deal with their London rivals.

With two years left on his Chelsea deal, the club has not indicated a new contract. With the Blues also looking to trim their squad, a sizeable offer more significant than the £40 million previously offered by West Ham may see the Stamford Bridge outfit consider the idea.

Moreover, his sale would garner Chelsea a massive profit on their books as Gallagher is a homegrown star. It’s up to West Ham to convince the player first and then the Blues to part ways with their academy star before the transfer deadline.
