Nottingham Forest set to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi

Nottingham Forest are hoping to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes.

A report from Football Insider claims that Nottingham Forest have already agreed on personal terms with the Chelsea winger, and the 22-year-old is now closing him in on a move to City Ground.

Apparently, the two clubs are currently locked in talks regarding the fee and the structure of the deal. The Chelsea was heavily linked with a move to Fulham as well. But the transfer seems to have collapsed and Nottingham Forest have now decided to take advantage of the situation and sign the highly talented winger.

Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to get regular game time at Chelsea this season. So it makes sense for him to move on and join a club willing to give him the platform he needs.

Nottingham Forest could certainly use attacking reinforcements, and the 22-year-old would be a quality acquisition. The player was once valued at £70 million and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea and ready to sell him for a reasonable price.

The winger was on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season, making 21 appearances across all competitions. Hudson-Odoi will look to get his career back on track with regular football, and he already has an agreement in principle with Forest over a long-term contract.

The 22-year-old is still quite young and could develop into a quality Premier League player with regular game time. If he manages to fulfil his potential with Nottingham Forest in the coming seasons, Chelsea might regret the decision to let him leave this summer.

The Blues already have a number of quality wingers. So it makes sense for them to cash in on the player and invest the proceeds into the playing squad. Chelsea need to bring in reinforcements in the other areas of the pitch and the sale of Hudson-Odoi will certainly help them in the transfer market. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest could lose Brennan Johnson this summer, and Hudson-Odoi could prove to be a quality alternative.
