Mohamed Salah informs Liverpool he wants to leave

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, and he wants to depart from Anfield.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Mohamed Salah has now informed Liverpool that he would like to join Al-Ittihad this summer. Apparently, the Saudi outfit could submit a huge bid of around $100 million for the 31-year-old, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to sanction his departure.

The Saudi Arabian outfit are hoping to sign the Egyptian attacker by Monday, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The 31-year-old is one of the best players in the world and could prove to be an exceptional signing for Al Ittihad.

Salah is undoubtedly a key player for Liverpool, and his departure this late in the window would be a devastating blow for the Reds. Liverpool do not have UEFA Champions League football this season. So they will struggle to attract top-class replacements for Salah if the 31-year-old decides to move on.

But that has not stopped Liverpool from planning for possible life after Salah. And they have shown interest in players like Leroy Sane, Karim Adeyemi, and Federico Chiesa. But ideally, the Merseyside club would prefer to keep hold of their talisman.

The Egyptian is their main goalscorer, with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez being slow to adapt to the Premier League completely. So it would be a disastrous decision from Liverpool to let the player leave this summer.

The Reds have already allowed a number of key players to leave the summer, especially in the midfield. They cannot afford to chop and change too many options if they want to do well.

Liverpool had a disappointing 2022/23 season by the standards, and they missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification. They will look to get back into the top four immediately, and someone like Salah will play a key role in their quest for a top-four finish.

The Egyptian scored 31 goals across all competitions and has been a proven goalscorer for Liverpool since joining the club. He is undoubtedly one of the best goalscorers in Premier League history and is at the peak of his powers.

His decision to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career will certainly come as a major surprise. Salah is good enough to play at the highest level in the top European leagues for a few seasons, and he should look to pursue major trophies with clubs like Liverpool. He will have plenty of opportunities to move to Saudi Arabia in the latter stages of his career.
