Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, with Al-Ittihad keen on signing him.

According to Sports Zone Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are increasingly confident of signing Mohamed Salah. The talks between the 31-year-old Egyptian international and the club are currently progressing regarding a summer move.

Salah has been a key player for Liverpool since arriving at Anfield many years ago, and he has helped them win major trophies like the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League. His departure would come as a major blow for Liverpool, and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League outfit are prepared to sanction his departure.

Liverpool might not be able to bring in a quality replacement for the Egyptian international, especially without Champions League football. So it would be a disastrous decision to sell the player this late on in the window. Nonetheless, they have shown interest in many attackers, including Leroy Sane.

Salah is also the club’s main goalscorer, and his departure would weaken the attack severely. The Liverpool midfield and defence is already lacking in depth and balance. They will not want to jeopardise their chances of Champions League qualification by weakening their attack as well.

The 31-year-old is one of the best players in the league, and he scored 30 goals across all competitions last season. Someone like him always makes a huge difference in the final third, and Liverpool will be desperate to hold onto him beyond this summer.

The Liverpool talisman has two years left on his current contract, and the Premier League outfit are under no pressure to cash in on him. If the Egyptian does not force a move this summer, a transfer to Saudi Arabia seems highly unlikely .

It will be interesting to see if Al-Ittihad decides to come forward with a lucrative offer to sign the 31-year-old in the remaining days of the transfer window. The 31-year-old is still one of the best players in the world and he might be keen on continuing in the Premier League for now. He will want to play at the highest level and win the major trophies. A move to Saudi Arabia might not be suitable for him at this stage of his career.
