Crystal Palace are reportedly set to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson in a deal worth £20 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is in place between Crystal Palace over a deal for Dean Henderson. The English international will arrive at Selhurst Park in a deal worth £20 million and the medical will be completed later today.

Henderson needed to leave Manchester United to play regularly and grow in his career. So he will be delighted to have secured a permanent exit from Old Trafford. The homegrown goalkeeper will now look to get his career back on track with regular football at Crystal Palace.

The Eagles needed to sign a quality goalkeeper, and the 26-year-old should prove to be a solid, long-term acquisition. Apparently, Manchester United will receive around £20 million for the goalkeeper, and they have included a sell-on percentage in his contract as well.

Henderson has had fruitful loan spells at clubs like Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United in the past. He will look to play regularly and continue his development now. There is no doubt that the 26-year-old has the ability to develop into a quality Premier League goalkeeper, and he will look to boost his chances of playing regularly for England as well ahead of UEFA Euro 2024.

Manchester United have already signed Andre Onana and are closing in on securing the services of Altay Bayindir. Henderson would have struggled for regular game time at Old Trafford, and the move makes sense for all parties.

The reported £20 million package seems quite reasonable for a player of his ability, and he could sort out the Crystal Palace goalkeeping situation for the foreseeable future. In addition to that, his departure will allow Manchester United to bring in their own signings.

They have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks. But the Red Devils have not managed to get the deals across the line. The proceeds from Henderson’s departure will certainly boost the transfer war chest and help them improve the squad before the summer transfer window closes.
