Crystal Palace are closing in on the signatures of the 26-year-old Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are keen on having Dean Henderson in their ranks. The Eagles are looking to sign a new shot-stopper before the end of the transfer window and have their eyes set on the 26-year-old Manchester United star.
Crystal Palace have been closely monitoring his situation for a while now. They recently decided to make a move for the England international and have been in talks with Manchester United of late. The two parties seem to have reached common ground in negotiations, and Henderson is close to joining the Eagles.
The Red Devils have given him the green light to undergo his medical ahead of a transfer to Palace. Once the 26-year-old has successfully completed the medical, final details should be sorted along with personal terms by the end of the day.
Henderson is keen on joining another club as he does not want to be second choice at Manchester United. The Red Devils might have parted ways with David de Gea, but they signed Andre Onana to take his place in goal. As a result, the England international is unlikely to get the desired number of minutes at Old Trafford.
While his contract runs until the summer of 2025, the player as well as the club are ready to part ways if the right offer arrives. And, it seems the Eagles have presented the right proposal to sign him.
The Eagles are desperate to have him in their ranks as they look to replace Vicente Guaita in goal. The 36-year-old has no intentions of continuing at Crystal Palace. He has informed the club that he wants to leave and has refused to take part in matches.
With Guaita’s exit a certainty, they have been actively looking for a new shot-stopper. They have found their man in Henderson are very close to securing his services from Manchester United. If the 26-year-old ends up joining Palace, he will have to square up against Sam Johnstone for a spot in the starting XI. Despite that, he is likely to get much more game time than he will get at Manchester United.
