Manchester United willing to pay €25 million to sign Marcos Leonardo

Manchester United are ready to pay €25 million for the services of 20-year-old Brazilian attacker Marcos Leonardo.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Manchester United are looking to add another striker to their ranks before the end of the transfer window. The Red Devils are interested in the services of Marcos Leonardo and are ready to fork out €25 million to land him at the club.

Leonardo was promoted to the Santos first team back in 2020 and has since gone from strength to strength. Despite being just 20, he has already featured in over 150 matches and has a total of 60 goal contributions.

The Brazil youth international has been in some form of late. In the 2022-23 season, he has been involved in a total of 32 matches and has been on the pitch for close to 2800 minutes. He has been terrific in front of the goal racking up 16 goals and has also bagged four assists.

His impressive performances over the past 18 months have caught the eyes of quite a few big clubs from across Europe. AS Roma are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on him and are interested in having him in their ranks.

The Italian giants are looking to add depth to their attack and they have been monitoring the 20-year-old for some time now. Even Manchester United have been linked with the Brazilian youth international for a while now.

While United were interested in his services, they were not really making moves. But, of late things have changed and they have started pondering over a move for the Santos forward.

They are looking for more firepower in attack and to be precise they are looking for a cover for their new striker Rasmus Højlund who is currently injured and might not return until the end of the international break.

Eventually, when Hojlund returns to full fitness, Erik ten Hag will look to use Leonardo as a rotational option. Meanwhile, Manchester United are ready to put forward an offer worth €20 million plus €5m in bonuses. But, they will first have to offload a few of their players to raise significant funds.
