Aston Villa are reportedly interested in a deal for Ansu Fati, with a report suggesting Jorge Mendes could make a deal for €50 million.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Ansu Fati is generating tremendous interest from the Premier League, with Aston Villa now entering the race. Tottenham are also interested, with the report suggesting Jorge Mendes could broker a deal for €50 million.

Just a week ago, Xavi Hernandez said Ansu Fati was Barcelona’s ‘present and future’ and was part of the ‘club’s heritage’. In truth, Barcelona could consider a wild offer from interested clubs if that helps them with their financial situation.

Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham have kept constant tabs to see if an opportunity arises late in the window. Until now, Xavi has maintained how important the 20-year-old Barcelona prospect remains to the club. But things could change rapidly at this stage.

Tottenham are still in the market for a new attacker, although they might focus on bringing in a new striker if something came up. That does not rule them out of the running for Fati, who, as per the report, could become available for €50 million. Barcelona could also open the doors if a good proposal comes along, including a loan deal as per several reports.

The story suggests Jorge Mendes could facilitate a €50 million transfer for the 20-year-old Barcelona prospect if viable suitors came forward. There’s also the presence of Aston Villa in the hunt, with Unai Emery still in the market for an attacker.

They did bring Nicolo Zaniolo as a replacement for the injured Emi Buendia. But Emery could look for a new winger to add depth. Ansu Fati represents a solid market opportunity if he is available for the quoted price. Barcelona will likely ask for significantly more. But in the latter stages, their desperation to raise cash could get the better of them.

Aston Villa are not the most attractive club, although Emery has stacked up a solid team since coming in. The Premier League side can only offer UEFA Europa Conference League football, but Fati can grow together for a long-term project.

Whether that proves enough to entice him remains the question. But Villa does have the financial means to conclude this deal. Tottenham will remain alert to the situation and possibly jump in, considering no other teams from England are too keen on Fati.
