Fulham were keen on having 22-year-old Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi in their ranks, but the move has collapsed.
According to a report by Football Insider, Fulham were pushing for the signatures of Callum Hudson-Odoi, and they were in talks with the player’s representatives as well as Chelsea. Despite the Blues’ willingness to negotiate his departure, the move has collapsed.
Hudson-Odoi has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team back in the winter of 2019. While he has featured in over 100 matches for the London club’s first team but is yet to establish himself as a regular in the senior side.
Last season, he was out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old joined the German club in order to revive himself, but things did not go according to plan. He featured in a total of 21 matches and was on the pitch for just over 1,000 minutes.
The Chelsea academy graduate did not have the kind of impact he wanted to have. And, after a disappointing loan spell, he has returned to his parent club, although there is no future for him at the London club. The 22-year-old is surplus to requirements and with his contract expiring, in less than 12 months, Chelsea are ready to cash in on him.
Hudson-Odoi has already informed Chelsea that he is ready to leave, with the club also giving him permission to look for a new club elsewhere. Meanwhile, Fulham are one of the clubs keen on having the 22-year-old in their ranks.
The Cottagers are looking to bolster their attack before the end of the transfer window. And, they believe Hudson-Odoi could help their cause and in the process revive himself. They have been in talks with the club and the Chelsea outfcast over a potential transfer.
While Fulham were eager to have him in their ranks, they are not looking to pay a fee for his services. And, the deal has collapsed following talks of a fee in the region of £8 million. With the Fulham transfer no longer a possibility, it will be interesting to see if Hudson-Odoi can find a new home in the last few days of the window.
