According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Marc-Andre ter Stegen has committed his long-term future to Barcelona. The two parties have sealed an agreement over a new contract. And the long-serving veteran will sign a deal lasting until June 30, 2028. And the Blaugrana will defer his wages for the first two years.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has become a Barcelona legend since joining the club from Borussia Monchengladbach in July 2014. A product of the Bundesliga club’s youth division, he was one of the best young goalkeepers in the world at the time. And the German international has gone from strength to strength at the Catalan club in the last nine years.

The 31-year-old has started his tenth season with Barcelona strongly, keeping a clean sheet in the season-opening fixture against Getafe. And ter Stegen has a solid record of 158 shut-outs in 378 appearances thus far for Barcelona. But he has entered the final two years of his contract with the Blaugrana.

However, the veteran goalkeeper’s future is not uncertain, considering the reigning La Liga champions have made him one of the club captains. In addition, Barcelona and ter Stegen have been negotiating a new contract in the last few weeks. And the two parties have sealed an agreement over a long-term deal.

But Barcelona’s priority for the coming days is to tie Marc-Andre ter Stegen to a new long-term contract. And it will be interesting to see if they can secure Joao Cancelo’s services in the final days of the summer transfer window.
