Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly revived their interest in Ryan Gravenberch, with the 21-year-old preferring to join the latter.
According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Ryan Gravenberch might become a popular figure in the market in the final days of the summer transfer window. Liverpool and Manchester United have rekindled their moves for the 21-year-old. And the Bayern Munich midfielder will prefer to move to Old Trafford if he departs from the Allianz Arena.
Ryan Gravenberch spent most of his formative years with Ajax, joining the Dutch giants from AVV Zeeburgia in 2010. And after rapidly rising through the ranks, he made his first-team debut for the club as a 16-year-old in September 2018. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds, even establishing a foothold in the Dutch national team.
But the 21-year-old has grown frustrated with his limited role since joining Bayern Munich from Ajax last summer. Gravenberch has not even managed 1,000 minutes of game time and was an unused substitute in the DFL Supercup last week. But his stock remains high, with Liverpool and Manchester United among his prospective suitors.
The young midfielder has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. And the Reds have already held meetings with his entourage. But a move has not come close to materialising, with Liverpool prioritising moves for other midfielders, including Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
Meanwhile, even after losing the races to sign Caicedo and Lavia, the Reds have not made Gravenberch their top target. And Wataru Endo is reportedly closing in on joining Liverpool this summer. Nonetheless, the Bayern Munich midfielder remains a target for Liverpool, although they are behind Manchester United in the battle.
The Red Devils have been prioritising signing Sofyan Amrabat this summer. But the move for the Fiorentina midfielder has stalled. And with Gravenberch growing frustrated at Bayern Munich, Manchester United might have smelled blood. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old will prefer to join them instead of Liverpool this summer.

The development comes as a boost for Manchester United as they look to round up their summer transfer business. And it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can convince Bayern Munich to sell the 21-year-old six months after taking Marcel Sabitzer on loan from the Bundesliga champions.
