Gabriel Magalhaes attracting Saudi Arabian interest

Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in securing the services of the 25-year-old Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.

According to Daily Mirror, there is a lot of interest in Gabriel Magalhaes from Saudi Arabia. The 25-year-old defender has been on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs of late. And, they are ready to go all out to land the Arsenal defender.

The Brazil international joined Arsenal back in the summer of 2020. The Gunners were desperate to have him in their ranks, and they ended up paying £27 million to Lille for his services. And the player has gone from strength to strength since making the move to England.

The 25-year-old has featured in a total of 120 over the years. And, he has also contributed towards 12 goals. Last season he featured in a total of 48 matches for the London club and helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League. He was on the pitch for over 4,100 minutes and contributed with three goals.

The Brazil international has been an important player under Mikel Arteta, and he still has four years left on his contract with the Gunners. Despite that, there is a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia. And this comes in the wake of his omission from the Arsenal eleven against Nottingham Forest this past wekend.

Saudi Pro League clubs are willing to go big to land him. They have been very active throughout the transfer window and have signed some of the biggest stars in Europe. Neymar, recently offered to several top clubs, is all set to their latest star arrival. But, they won’t stop there and want to bring the Arsenal defender to the Middle East.

With the 25-year-old being a surprise omission from Arsenal’s starting XI on the opening day, there could be a move on the cards. While the Gunners do not intend to sell him, Saudi Pro League clubs’ financial strength can make anything happen.

But, with time running out and Jurrien Timber picking up a knee injury, the Gunners cannot really risk offloading him and then signing a new replacement. On top of that, they already have a lot on their plate as Timber suffered a long-term issue, and they might have to look for a cover.
