Manchester City are ready to go all out to land 25-year-old West Ham United attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
According to a report by talkSPORT, Manchester City are keen on having Lucas Paqueta in their ranks. They have been making moves to sign the 25-year-old of late but have not tasted success yet. However, they are now looking to step up their interest in the Brazil international, valued at over £80 million.
Manchester City started off their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win against newly-promoted Burnley. While it was a great start for Pep Guardiola’s team, they ended up suffering a huge blow. Kevin De Bruyne was forced off due to an injury. And, the early signs suggest he will be out for quite a few weeks.
With the Belgian international likely to remain on the sidelines for a while, Guardiola is now desperate to have Paqueta in his ranks. Manchester City were making moves to sign the 25-year-old even before De Bruyne’s injury. But they are now looking to intensify their efforts.
Manchester City submitted an offer worth £70 million earlier this week. But it was rejected by the Hammers. Despite that, City are not ready to give up. They are even considering offering Cole Palmer in a part-exchange deal for the Brazilian international.
City are in desperate need of a new attacking midfielder, and they are looking to go all in for the 25-year-old who has impressed since joining David Moyes’s team for £51 million from Lyon last summer. The Hammers have already sold Declan Rice in the summer, and letting Paqueta leave will be a huge blow.
They want to keep him at the club for at least another season but are not confident about their chances. While he still has four years left on his deal, the Hammers might not be able to reject a bid in excess of £80 million.
