Arsenal are looking to reignite their interest in the services of 26-year-old Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal are interested in the services of Nicolo Barella and they could make a move to land the Inter Milan star at the club before the end of the transfer window. They have been monitoring the 26-year-old for a while now and are ready to reignite their interest in him.
Barella came through the ranks at Cagliari Calcio. He made quite a name for himself while playing for them and his impressive performances resulted in a move to Inter Milan in the summer of 2019. He initially joined them on a season-long loan and the move was made permanent in the following summer.
The Italian international has gone from strength to strength since joining the Italian giants. He has been one of their best players over the last few seasons. Last time out, he featured in a total of 52 matches and racked up over 4000 minutes.
The 26-year-old contributed towards 19 goals, he found the back of the net on nine occasions and assisted his teammates on 10 occasions. Barella was one of the reasons for Inter’s impressive run in the UEFA Champions League that ended in the final.
While his contract runs until the summer of 2026, Inter are keen on extending his contract. If he does not pen down a new deal, they will be forced to offload him.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are interested in the 26-year-old and they are considering making a move for his services. According to the report, the Gunners have received an indication that the Italian international is open to a move to the London club.
While Mikel Arteta’s men are interested in the Inter Milan midfielder, they will have to offload a few players to put forward a bid substantial enough offer for the UCL finalists to consider the sale of one of their best players.
Meanwhile, Inter have already sold Marcelo Brozovic this summer. As a result, it will take a lot for Arsenal to get this deal over the line. Thomas Partey’s future has been uncertain for a while now and if he ends up leaving the Gunners, they could surely move forward for the signatures of Barella.
