Real Madrid are keen on making an emergency goalkeeper signing and are looking at David De Gea as a potential option.

Rudy Galetti places David De Gea as the favourite to sign for Real Madrid in the coming days after the severe injury to Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian will now miss most of the upcoming season, which has brought the Spanish giants into the window to make an emergency goalkeeper signing.

Real Madrid have had a very relaxed transfer window so far, bringing in key players and even signing one of the promising teenagers in the form of Arda Guler. Florentino Perez may have kept an eye open for opportunities, particularly from France, but the club’s window was more or less considered closed.

The ACL injury suffered by Thibaut Courtois has put them back in the market to make an emergency goalkeeping addition to replace their No.1. It’s not an easy task by any means, as the options in the market are far few.

Few Arsenal fans will breathe a sigh of relief at their club agreeing on a move for David Raya a day early before the Courtois injury struck. The Brentford man would have become a target for Real Madrid, but they are looking at other options.

Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga remains an option, with Chelsea reportedly open to offers. The Spaniard was a target for Real Madrid before he moved to England and could rekindle their pursuit after many years. Similarly, David De Gea came close to signing for the Capital Club, but a move got scuppered due to a faulty fax machine.

Hopefully, those machines are working for Real Madrid now, as the Manchester United outcast emerges as a top target to replace Courtois. Rudy Galetti insists that’s the case, and the club will initiate contact soon with the keeper.

Bayern Munich are also interested in De Gea, but if Real Madrid snaps the Spaniard, it would add to the incredible list of players the German club missed out on this summer alone. The Spanish giants could make him their No.1 for the upcoming season and even offer him a decent deal.

De Gea left Manchester United after a tumultuous summer with contract talks. The club pulled out their deal despite the keeper signing on fresh terms. The Red Devils have since paid considerable fees to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan, and De Gea continues to look for a new club.

He could become a solid option for Real Madrid, who would add massive experience with De Gea. The Courtois injury will have come at an unfortunate time for the club, considering the Belgian had looked solid in the last two seasons.
