Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign 36-year-old French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Tottenham this summer.

According to a report by MARCA, Real Madrid have been offered the chance to acquire the services of Hugo Lloris, as they look for a cover for Thibaut Courtois. The Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper is looking for a new challenge elsewhere, and he could join Los Blancos in the coming days.

The former French international has been a great servant for Spurs over the years. He has been their number one for many seasons. But it seems his time at the club is about to come to an end. The 36-year-old has talked about leaving the club for a new experience in the recent past. And with his contract running out next season, the London club are ready to negotiate his departure.

Lloris joined Tottenham back in 2012 and has gone from strength to strength since. He has featured in a total of 447 matches for the London club and has kept over 150 clean sheets. While he has been amongst the best goalkeepers in the world, the World Cup winner has been on the decline of late.

Last season, he missed quite a few matches because of injury and was not at his best in the 31 appearances that he made. The former French international only managed nine clean sheets in total. His decline forced Tottenham to enter the market for a new goalkeeper, and they have secured the services of Guglielmo Vicario. The 26-year-old is all set to be their new number one.

With a replacement already secured, Tottenham are ready to let go of the 36-year-old. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are in desperate need of a new shot-stopper after an injury to Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian international has suffered an ACL injury and is all set to be out for a long while.

Real Madrid are looking to sign a new goalkeeper. But they have no intentions of spending big on a shot-stopper. They prefer bringing in someone on loan or a free transfer. They have been offered a chance to sign the Tottenham veteran as cover for their injury-stricken no. 1.

Lloris will be a cost-effective option for Los Blancos. But his recent performances are a worry. Real Madrid need someone who can fill the big boots of Courtois until he is back fit and might not risk betting on someone who has been on the decline of late.
