Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is not keen on having 32-year-old Spanish international David de Gea in his ranks.
According to Tiempo de Juego, Real Madrid are keen on singing a new goalkeeper. They are looking for a cover for Thibaut Courtois and have the option to acquire the services of David de Gea on a free transfer. But, their manager Carlo Ancelotti is not interested in having the Spanish international at his disposal.
Thibaut Courtois has been the number one at Real Madrid since joining them from Chelsea back in 2018. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move to Spain. The 31-year-old is amongst the best goalkeepers in world football and was all set for another exciting season. However, an injury days before the start of the 2023/24 season has changed Real Madrid’s plans significantly.
The Belgian international has suffered an ACL injury. Courtois is all set to undergo surgery in the coming days and is expected to be out for quite a few months. As a result, Real Madrid are now looking to sign a cover who can take charge in goal until the former Chelsea shot-stopper returns.
While they do have Andriy Lunin in their ranks, Ancelotti is looking to have someone who has more experience. With Real Madrid entering the market for a new goalkeeper, David de Gea has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants.
Back in 2015, the Spanish international was close to joining Los Blancos. But unfortunately, a deal couldn’t go through. Eight years down the line, de Gea has once again been linked with Real Madrid.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper is currently a free agent after leaving Manchester United. The Red Devils wanted to extend his stay at the club but could not reach an agreement with the player. His contract ran out and ever since, de Gea has been on the lookout for a new club.
The Spanish international is a potential option for Real Madrid and with him being a free agent Real Madrid won’t have to spend a penny on transfer fee. Despite that, Ancelotti is not keen on having him in his ranks. The Italian manager is not a fan of de Gea and has ruled out his signing.
