Juventus priced out of a move for Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey

Italian giants Juventus are all set to drop their interest in the 30-year-old Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey.

According to Tuttosport via SportWitness, Juventus have been interested in the services of Thomas Partey for a while now. But, they are unlikely to make any moves for the services of the 30-year-old midfielder because of his price tag.

While recent reports suggested that they would reignite their interest in the 30-year-old, it is unlikely to happen because Juventus do not intend to overspend on a player who is already in his 30s. The Old Lady will instead look for younger options to bolster their midfield.

Partey joined Arsenal back in the summer of 2020. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move to the London club. The 30-year-old has been the backbone of their midfielder over the years.

He has been the mainstay of their midfield making a total of 100 appearances. The former Atlético Madrid star played an important role last season as he featured in a total of 40 matches and racked up close to 2700 minutes.

The 30-year-old was a rock in the centre of the park and he was one of the main reasons why they ended up challenging Manchester City for the league title right until the end. But, Declan Rice’s arrival at Arsenal for a club-record fee sparked rumours of a potential departure of Partey.

However, the fact that the former Atlético player was involved throughout the 90 minutes against Manchester City in the Community Shield suggests that he is still an important player in their squad. As a result, they are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap.

Partey is currently valued at €35 million and the Gunners will surely ask for much more than that for the 30-year-old. As a result, Juventus are unlikely to reignite their interest in the Gunners midfielder. They are not in a financial state to overpay for a midfielder who is in the last phase of his career. While they are keen on having a new midfielder, Juventus are expected to look elsewhere for a younger and cheaper option.
