Nottingham Forest have scheduled talks with Manchester United for the services of 26-year-old shot-stopper Dean Henderson.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest are keen on bolstering their goalkeeping position and are looking to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United. They are interested in bringing back the 26-year-old shot-stopper who was on loan at the club last season and have scheduled a new round of talks.

Nottingham struggled in goal last season because of injuries and ended up signing Keylor Navas on loan. The former Real Madrid shot-stopper has now returned to Paris Saint-Germain. While they wanted to sign him on a permanent basis, a deal doesn’t look possible at this point in time.

And, with Adnan Kanuric and Jordan Smith leaving the club, the Tricky Trees don’t have enough depth in the goalkeeping position. As a result, they are pushing to sign multiple goalkeepers in the ongoing transfer window.

Wayne Hennessey and Ethan Horvath are their only two options in goal. But, their manager Steve Cooper is not confident about either of them being his number one for the 2023-24 season. And, that is why he is keen on having Henderson in his ranks.

Along with the Manchester United goalkeeper, they are also making moves to sign Matt Turner. And, a deal has already been agreed with Arsenal over his transfer. Turner will undergo his medical as a new Nottingham player today.

While they have landed the 29-year-old, they are still keen on having Henderson. Cooper is looking to have enough depth as well as competition for the number one spot. While the Manchester United shot-stopper is expected to be the number one, Turner could surely push him for a spot in the starting XI.

While on loan at Nottingham last season, the 26-year-old featured in a total of 20 matches before getting injured and managed to keep a clean sheet on six occasions. He was impressive in goal for the Tricky Trees and it is one of the major reasons why they want to re-sign him but this time on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are not expected to stand in his way as he is unlikely to accept a backup role at the club. While David de Gea has left, Andre Onana’s arrival means Henderson has to look for options elsewhere. Having already played for Nottingham, he might accept a permanent move to the club. However, a considerable fee is expected to be involved in any potential deal.
