Chelsea are ready to part ways with their 24-year-old centre-back Trevoh Chalobah amid interest from West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are ready to cash in on Trevoh Chalobah. The 24-year-old defender is not a part of their manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans moving ahead. As a result, they are ready to negotiate his departure. And, Crystal Palace as well as West Ham United are interested in the services of the Chelsea graduate. A fee of £45 million should get the job done.
Chalobah has been a part of their youth setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2021 after an impressive loan spell at FC Lorient.
While he started off in fine fashion after being promoted, the 24-year-old’s performances were not consistent enough. As a result, they have signed quite a few defenders over the past few transfer windows.
The English youth international was given a contract extension by the club less than a year back. The new deal runs until the summer of 2028 but is expected to be on the move in the ongoing window.
When Wesley Fofana got injured, some expected Chalobah to fill in for him during the 2023/24 season. But, Pochettino has different plans. He decided to sign a replacement and managed to land the AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi at the club.
The Blues have enough depth in the heart of the defence with Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Thiago Silva available. As a result, the 24-year-old defender’s future at Stamford Bridge is at risk, and he could be on his way out. The Blues are ready to negotiate his departure. They have informed the player to look for options, and there is serious interest in from Crystal Palace and West Ham.
The Hammers’ priority is to reinforce their midfield after the departure of Declan Rice. But, they are also pushing for a new defender and would love to have the 24-year-old in their ranks as he has enough experience of playing in the English top flight.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace had a tough time last time out. While they did finish 11th on the points table, they were close to the relegation battle at one point. And, the major concern for them throughout was their defence. In addition, Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi have been linked with moves away from Selhurst Park.
