Arsenal optimistic of signing David Raya

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya and are confident of landing him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are now confident of completing a deal to sign in Spanish international goalkeeper David Raya before the summer transfer window closes.

The 27-year-old is valued at £40 million by Brentford, and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to pay the asking price for him. Their reported opening bid falls well below Brentford’s asking price.

The Gunners already have Aaron Ramsdale at their disposal, and the English goalkeeper was quite impressive for them last season. It is quite surprising that Mikel Arteta is now looking to bring in a first-choice shot-stopper and push Ramsdale down the pecking order.

It will be interesting to see how the English goalkeeper reacts to the situation and whether he is sold before the summer transfer window closes. There is no doubt that Raya is a quality player, and he has proven himself in the Premier League with Brentford. The 27-year-old is excellent with his distribution, and he will help the Gunners build from the back.

Ramsdale remains an impressive shot-stopper as well, and he will be hoping to compete for the first-team place next season. The £40 million-rated Spanish international goalkeeper will be tempted to join a big club this summer. And the opportunity to join Arsenal will be hard to turn down.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can get a deal across the line soon. The Gunners will be playing in the Champions League next season and they need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions. Signing the 27-year-old could prove to be a wise decision in the long run. Raya and Ramsdale could sort out the Arsenal goal-keeping situation for the foreseeable future.

Arsenal will look to push for the league title this season after narrowly missing out to Manchester City last year. They have been quite active in the transfer market so far and they have already signed the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. It is no surprise that they are now looking to bring in more reinforcements before the summer window closes.
