Real Madrid will reportedly demand a paltry €7 million to part ways with 24-year-old Ukrainian international Andriy Lunin this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Andriy Lunin might leave Real Madrid in the ongoing transfer window. And Los Blancos might not stand in his way if he wishes to embark on a new adventure. But they will only part ways with the 24-year-old if a suitor shells out €7 million to secure his services.
Andriy Lunin spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at FC Metalist Kharkiv and FK Dnipro. And after graduating from Dnipro’s youth division, he slowly grew in stature. But the Ukrainian international rose to prominence during his short stint with Zorya Luhansk.
Lunin’s progress at Zorya Luhansk did not go unnoticed, with Real Madrid securing his services in July 2018. But with Thibaut Courtois also arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in the same transfer window, the 24-year-old has had to play second-fiddle to the Belgian international. But he has embarked on three loan spells away from Real Madrid.
Those three temporary stints produced mixed results, with only the spell at Real Oviedo being conducive to his progress. Meanwhile, Lunin has managed only 17 appearances thus far for Real Madrid, sufficing with outings in cup competitions. And those games have seen his concede 19 goals while keeping four clean sheets.
With his career going nowhere, Lunin has been considering leaving Real Madrid for several months. Making several appearances in the run-in of the 2022/23 season has not helped Los Blancos’ case either. And a summer departure might be on the cards, with a few clubs showing interest in him.
The Merengues have now determined their asking price for the 24-year-old. And Real Madrid will demand around €7 million to part ways with Lunin this summer. Meanwhile, the Spanish giants do not have a shortage of options to replace the Ukrainian goalkeeper if he leaves in the ongoing transfer window.
Goalkeepers like Gabriel Slonina and David Soria have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. But Los Blancos will only launch the offensive for a goalkeeper if Lunin leaves. And it will be interesting to see if a suitor shells out €7 million to secure the services of the 24-year-old.
