Nottingham Forest are closing in on Dean Henderson as they could plot a loan with an obligation to buy clause to persuade Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports via Football Daily, Nottingham Forest are keen to wrap up the signing of Dean Henderson. Steve Cooper’s side are ready to propose a loan offer with a buy obligation to persuade Manchester United into selling the 26-year-old star.

Nottingham Forest have stepped up their goalkeeper chase in the past 24 hours. Steve Cooper now evidently wants two goalkeepers rather than only one. Dean Henderson was somewhat seen as their only big target for the summer for a long time, but that may not be the case anymore.

There were rumours linking to Wolves star Jose Sa as a replacement for Keylor Navas, but the Portuguese no longer resembles an option. Matt Turner emerged as a target over the last 24 hours after developments at Arsenal’s end.

The Gunners are now linked with David Raya, and Mikel Arteta seems serious about signing the Brentford keeper. Hence, with Turner becoming available for a transfer, Forest may have held talks with the Gunners.

The report insists Forest and Arsenal are far apart in their valuations, but there’s a feeling the two sides can reach an agreement in the coming days. Meanwhile, doubts were cast on Henderson’s chances of joining Forest permanently.

As things stand, Forest have not changed their stance and remains interested in signing the 26-year-old Manchester United ace in this window. The indication is that Cooper wants two top-draw keepers rather than only one, and he would like the Arsenal and Manchester United stars.

While they might continue discussions for Turner, Nottingham Forest has proposed a loan offer for Henderson. The proposal will have a buy-obligation clause inserted, which the Red Devils might look favourably at.

Forest have been close to sealing a deal for Henderson for some time now, but there has been some hold-up in the last few weeks. The loan-to-buy offer seems favourable for all parties. Manchester United will demand a significant fee for the 26-year-old keeper.

With Henderson and Turner, Cooper will have a formidable set of keepers to use next season. Both those stars are vying to play regularly, which would mean great competition in training.
