Liverpool are prepared to take Kylian Mbappe only for one season and ready to assume his €50 million-a-year salary.

According to a report by SPORT, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Liverpool are ready to assume the €50 million-a-year salary to bring Kylian Mbappe to Anfield, albeit for one season. It is a strange deal from many perspectives, which could result in it only being another rumour surrounding the French World Cup winner.

The Kylian Mbappe saga continues producing more surprising news (rumours) each day. Arsenal, Manchester United and a host of other Premier League sides, including Tottenham, have been linked at some stage.

Yet, the ball keeps going back to Liverpool in this saga when it is clear they do not have the money to conduct the operation. Now, a report from SPORT insists the Merseysiders are very much in the race and would make an effort to make an offer.

The ‘offer’ is a loan deal that would see Liverpool cover the 24-year-old’s €50 million-a-year salary. Because PSG are keen to offload the striker one way or another, they may have wanted to do so before July 31, as now they will have to pay Mbappe his stipulated loyalty bonus.

Liverpool had earlier contemplated a loan move. But it is unlikely to happen considering the high cost of the operation, that too for a single season. Mbappe also refused to consider a move to Saudi Arabia after PSG accepted a mammoth €300 million offer from Al Hilal.

Liverpool are not seriously contemp[lating any move of the kind where they take over his €50 million-a-year salary and watch him leave for free to Real Madrid next season. For a permanent transfer, they seriously do not have the funds.

Chelsea were also actively linked with Mbappe, and sure enough, Todd Boehly might attempt something audacious to try and bring the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Mbappe’s destination remains well-known to all associated with football.

Even PSG believes Mbappe has a secret agreement to join Real Madrid next summer. Al Hilal, meanwhile, offered him a massive €700 million salary to bring him for a single season and would have allowed a free transfer to Spain next year.

Yet, as things stand, Mbappe remains a PSG player and would have by now collected his hefty loyalty bonus from Nasser Al Khelaifi. He will pocket a hefty salary for the next season and leave for Real Madrid as a free agent to realise his long-standing dream.
