Sofyan Amrabat prioritising Manchester United move over other suitors

Manchester United have reportedly been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who wants an Old Trafford move over other suitors.

According to Italian transfer journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is prioritising a Manchester United move this summer despite interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli.

This comes after multiple reports in Italy suggest that personal terms have already been agreed over a summer switch. So a transfer now depends on the Red Devils meeting the transfer demands of the Serie A outfit.

Manchester United are ramping up their transfer business ahead of the new season and are set to complete their third signing of the summer with the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a deal worth around £72 million.

Erik ten Hag has been hunting for a new striker all summer, and he is finally set to get his man, with Hojlund expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford. The 20-year-old Denmark international will follow Mason Mount and Andre Onana through the door at the Red Devils after they joined earlier this month.

Manchester United could yet make more signings, with Amrabat the next player on ten Hag’s radar. United’s opening bid for the Morocco international has already arrived on the table of Fiorentina. But it is likely to be below the €35 million valuation of La Viola.

The Morocco international has been a key player for the Serie A outfit over the past three seasons. But his stock has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. He excelled at last year’s World Cup, playing a pivotal role in Morocco’s fairytale run to the semi-finals, proving his calibre to perform on the biggest stage. However, the 26-year-old has now asked to leave Fiorentina to take the next step in his career.

Ten Hag is a big admirer of the player, having worked with him at FC Utrecht. His physical and technical skillset suits the team perfectly. Manchester United consider him a viable option to strengthen the midfield, while his versatility would allow Ten Hag to deploy varied tactical setups. For the touted price, the transfer would represent great value for money.

However, any deal for the 26-year-old could depend on Manchester United selling some of their stars to comply with Financial Fair Play. Anthony Elanga has already joined Nottingham Forest, and Alex Telles has moved to Al Nassr.

Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Eric Bailly are also available for transfer. And the club will listen to offers for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, but only if the right offers arrive. The club rejected a lowball bid from West Ham United for the England international recently.

Manchester United will also be without teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo for the first few months of the new season after the 18-year-old injured his ankle during the friendly defeat to Real Madrid in the USA last Thursday, which could have huge ramifications on a potential McTominay sale.
