Liverpool are preparing a bid worth €50 million to acquire the services of the 27-year-old Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool are looking for defensive reinforcement and have their eyes set on Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen. The Reds are keen on having the former Chelsea defender in their ranks and are ready to break the bank to acquire his services.
Christensen joined Chelsea back in 2012. He came through the ranks at the club and became a first-team regular. After a successful seven-year stint with their first team, the 27-year-old joined Barcelona as a free agent.
He made the move to Spotify Camp Nou ahead of the 2022/23 season and made an immediate impact. The Danish international formed a deadly with Ronald Araújo in the heart of the defence.
The 27-year-old featured in a total of 32 matches and was on the pitch for over 2,300 minutes. Christensen even contributed towards two goals. He was one of the reasons for the Catalan giants’ exceptional defensive performances in the league. Barcelona had the best defence in the league and ended up winning the La Liga.
While his performances were exceptional and he still has three years left on his deal with Barcelona, the 27-year-old could leave the club in the ongoing window. In normal circumstances, Xavi’s team would have never considered an offer for the Danish international. But they are struggling financially. As a result, they might be open to the idea of letting him leave.
Christensen arrived for free last summer, and offloading him for a significant in this summer will help them reinforce their squad. Meanwhile, Liverpool are ready to put forward an offer worth €50 million for the 27-year-old’s services.
