Fulham are optimistic about acquiring the services of 22-year-old Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in the ongoing transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Fulham are closing in on the signatures of Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Cottagers are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season and they have already acquired the services of Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez. And, are now pushing for the signatures of the 22-year-old Chelsea forward.
Hudson-Odoi who came through the ranks at Chelsea hasn’t had the best of times of late. He was promoted to their first team back in the winter of 2019 and had started off in fine fashion. However, an injury towards the back end of the 2021-22 season derailed his progress.
Post that the Blues have signed multiple new forwards and the 22-year-old fell down the pecking order. He was sent out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen. But, things didn’t work out well for the Chelsea graduate as he featured in a total of 21 matches but only managed two goal contributions.
After a disappointing loan spell in Germany, the England international has returned to his parent club. But, his future has been uncertain for a while now. Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to have the desired first-team minutes at Chelsea and he is open to a move away from the club.
The 22-year-old’s £180,000-a-week contract is all set to expire next summer but he is ready to part ways in the ongoing window. While the England international is ready to move and there is interest from Serie A side Lazio, he prefers staying in England as he looks to revive his career.
In England, Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs interested in the 22-year-old Chelsea graduate. They are ready to go big to land him at the club but are behind Fulham in the race. And, one of the reasons why the Cottagers might end up winning the race is the fact that they are based in London.
Fulham have been interested in the 22-year-old for a while now and they have been in talks with the Blues over a potential deal. While there is a difference in valuation between the two clubs, Fulham are still confident about getting it over the line in the final month of the transfer window.
