West Ham United have established contacts with Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais over a potential deal for 21-year-old full-back Adrien Truffert.

According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United have their eyes set on Adrien Truffert. The Hammers are looking for a new left-back and believe the 21-year-old Stade Rennais defender could be a great fit for the club.

There is uncertainty around the future of Aaron Cresswell. The 33-year-old joined West Ham United back in 2014 and has been a great servant for the club. The veteran full-back has featured in over 330 matches for the Hammers. But it seems his time at the London club is about to end.

As a result, West Ham are preparing for life without the England international. They have been looking for a new left-back for a while now, and Truffert is one of the names shortlisted by West Ham’s recruitment team.

The 21-year-old has been a part of Rennes since 2015. He has come up the ranks and managed to get into their first team in the summer of 2020. He has featured in a total of 113 matches for the French club’s first team and has been involved in 18 goals.

He was on fire last season with seven assists in his 38 outings. The 21-year-old was on the pitch for over 2,500 minutes. While an injury did keep him out from the last part of the season, Truffert had already impressed a lot of people and there are quite a few clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

Rennes’ priority at this point in time is to extend his stay at the club. His current contract runs out in the summer of 2025, and the French club want him to sign a new long-term deal. They have already started talks with the player’s representatives over a new deal. But, if the player does not pen down an extension, they could accept a fee of around £15 million.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are keen on having him in their ranks and they are in talks with the French club over a potential deal. West Ham believe the French international has all the qualities to succeed at the top level and he could be a great replacement for Cresswell.
