Moises Caicedo is all set to ask Brighton & Hove Albion to lower their asking price amidst interest from Chelsea.
According to a report by The Times, Moises Caicedo and his representatives are all set to hold talks with Brighton as they look to persuade them to lower their £100 million asking price for his services. The youngster is keen on making the move to Chelsea who recently had their third bid rejected.
The Blues are keen on signing a new defensive midfielder in the ongoing transfer window, and their priority is to acquire the services of the 21-year-old Brighton midfielder. However, they have failed to strike a deal with Seagulls despite having made three different offers.
Caicedo has been in sensational form over the past 18 months, and he has been on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Back in January, Arsenal wanted to sign him but Brighton were not ready to sell.
Post that he signed a new deal with Seagulls. But, during those negotiations, they assured him that they would let him leave if the right offer arrived. However, their valuation of the 21-year-old has changed on the back of Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal worth over £100 million.
The Seagulls now want a package of around £100 million for their star midfielder. But, Chelsea have failed to meet the asking price. The Blues’ third bid worth £80 million was rejected by Brighton on Thursday.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team had signed the Ecuadorian international for just £4.5 million back in 2021. And, they would have made a huge profit had they accepted the Blues’ third bid. But they are not ready to lower their asking price and would love to see him continue at the club for another season after having qualified for European football.
However, Caicedo is keen on joining Chelsea. And, he is all set to hold talks with his club to try and persuade them to lower their asking price of £100 million. With the player pushing for the move, it will be interesting to see how Brighton react. The move by the youngster certainly comes as a shot in the arm for Chelsea.
