Fred continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Lazio offered the chance to sign him.

As per La Lazio Siamo Noi, Fred has now been offered to Serie A club Lazio. And it remains to be seen whether they are ready to take up the option to sign the Manchester United midfielder this summer.

Apparently, West Ham United a keen on signing the midfielder as well. The Brazilian midfielder has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford since joining them in a €60 million deal. So it makes sense for him to move on and join another club.

Fred is at the peak of his powers, and he will not want to sit on the bench at Manchester United. He will be hoping to play regularly and if Lazio can provide him with that opportunity, it would be a good move for all parties.

Manchester United have been linked with other central midfielders in recent weeks. They are reportedly keeping tabs on Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The arrival of the 26-year-old would push Fred further down the pecking order, and the Brazilian is unlikely to be happy with that situation.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham decide to follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign the midfielder in the coming weeks. West Ham have recently sanctioned the departure of Declan Rice for a British transfer record sum to Arsenal, and they will need to replace the player adequately.

Although Fred is not the ideal long-term replacement for Declan Rice, he could prove to be a useful acquisition in the short term. If Manchester United are willing to sell the player for a nominal price, he could prove to be a good option for the likes of Lazio and West Ham. The player has recently been linked with a move to Fulham as well.

There is no doubt that the Manchester United midfielder is good enough for the Premier League. So it will be interesting to see where he ends up. A move to Italy could be ideal for him at this stage of his career as well. The lower intensity of Serie A could prolong his career. As for Manchester United, they will look to recoup as much as possible for him and invest the proceeds into the playing squad.
