Fred has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Galatasaray close to signing him.

According to Turkish outfit Fotomac, Fred is now closing in on a move to Galatasaray. The Brazilian midfielder has struggled for regular game time at Old Trafford, and he needs to leave Manchester United in search of regular playing time.

A move away from Old Trafford would be ideal for him at this stage of his career. The 30-year-old, who arrived in a £47 million deal, has been inconsistent during his time at Manchester United. And the move to Turkey would be ideal for him at this stage of his career.

The lesser quality of the Turkish league could prolong his career at the top level and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise an agreement soon. Galatasaray need to bring in midfield reinforcements, and the Manchester United midfielder could prove to be a useful acquisition for the right price.

Fred has certainly shown that he can be a quality player on his day, and it remains to be seen whether he can be more consistent with a move to Turkey. Meanwhile, Manchester United have been linked with midfielders like Sofyan Amrabat recently, and the Brazilian is likely to fall further down the pecking order if he stays at the club.

It would be ideal for both parties to part ways. In addition, the proceeds from his sale will allow Manchester United to improve their own squad. The Red Devils will compete in the Champions League next season, and they will look to compete for the league title as well. They need a deeper squad to match up to the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Fred is certainly not good enough to start regularly for a team wanting to win the Premier League title. So Manchester United must look to bring in better options. And recent reports have claimed that Amrabat is closing in on joining them.
