Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 20-year-old Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, a target for Chelsea.
According to a report from Midi Libre, Tottenham are now formulating an offer to sign Elye Wahi, who is on the radar of Premier League rivals Chelsea as well.
Wahi had an impressive 2022/23 campaign with Montpellier, and he ended up scoring 19 goals across all competitions. He could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Tottenham. and it remains to be seen whether the North London club can secure an agreement with Montpellier.
Tottenham need to bring in attacking reinforcements, and Wahi would be a useful option to have. Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, and Tottenham will have to replace him adequately. Although the 20-year-old striker is not quite ready to replace the Englishman just yet, he could certainly share the goal-scoring burden at Tottenham next season.
He has the attributes to develop into a top-class forward and could be a key player for Tottenham in the long run. Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen on signing him as well, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can beat the competition from their London rivals.
Chelsea had a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, and they need to improve their squad in order to do well next season. Signing a quality goalscorer should be a top priority for them. The Blues struggled to find the back of the net consistently last season.
There is no doubt that Chelsea have more financial resources compared to Tottenham. So it remains to be seen how the North London club convinces the talented young striker to join them.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea will be without Champions League football next season. But they have exciting projects at their disposal. Both clubs would represent an exciting opportunity for the talented young striker, and they could help him continue his development with regular football at a high level.
Mauricio Pochettino and Ange Postecoglou have done well to nurture talented young players throughout their managerial careers, and they could help the 19-goal attacker fulfill his tremendous potential.
