Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, a target for Chelsea.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have already sent out a second bid for Romeo Lavia after facing rejection with their opening offer. Apparently, a £45 million bid has been lodged. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Southampton midfielder is also a target ofr Chelsea.
The two clubs are currently working on finding the right structure and including bonuses that are achievable. Payment instalments are also being discussed between Liverpool and Southampton. It seems that the transfer is now a matter of time, and the 19-year-old is expected to head to Anfield.
Lavia has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea as well. However, it is certain that Liverpool are currently in pole position to secure his services. So it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are heading to Saudi Arabia. So Liverpool will need to replace them adequately. Lavia could be the ideal alternative to Fabinho. The Brazilian defensive midfielder was quite mediocre last season, and he needs to be replaced properly. Lavia has the talent and attributes to develop into one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.

Despite the relegation with Southampton, the 19-year-old impressed with his performances last year and is likely to improve with coaching and experience. A move to Liverpool could accelerate his development. Regular football at a high level will help him improve and working with a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp will help him develop further.
The Liverpool manager has worked wonders with talented young players throughout his managerial career, and he could help the 19-year-old Belgian fulfil his world-class potential as well.
The midfielder has a clause in his contract which will allow his former club Manchester City to sign him for a fee of around £40 million next summer. So it makes sense for Southampton to cash in on him for a slight premium this summer.

Liverpool have already improved their midfield with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. The arrival of Lavia will only improve them further and help them push for a place in the Champions League once again.
