Serie A giants Juventus will soon hold fresh discussions with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, whose price tag is €40 million, over a summer move.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Romelu Lukaku remains the subject of interest from Juventus. And the Serie A giants are ramping up their efforts to sign the Chelsea striker in the ongoing transfer window. The Blues value the Belgian international at €40 million this summer.
Romelu Lukaku has shown how one decision can send your life or career spiralling out of control. The 30-year-old was on top of the world and doing little wrong during his stint with Inter Milan. One of the best strikers in Serie A at the end of Inter’s Serie A-winning 2020/21 campaign, he decided he wanted to return to Chelsea, as he had unfinished business there.
But the Belgian striker’s second coming at Chelsea was disastrous, as he managed only 15 goals and two assists in 44 appearances. In addition, he did not do himself any favours by giving an interview where he practically confessed he was unhappy at Chelsea. So it was hardly surprising that the West London club loaned him back to Inter Milan last summer.
Things did not improve for the former Manchester United striker at San Siro, as he endured an injury-riddled campaign. But he chipped in with crucial goals in the second half of the 2022/23 season. And it appeared likely that the experienced attacker would rejoin Inter Milan permanently this summer.
But he was also in contact with Juventus while Inter Milan looked to negotiate a deal with Chelsea. And Lukaku’s conduct rubbed the Nerazzurri the wrong way, and they called off a summer move. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian clubs have submitted attractive offers to Chelsea for the 30-year-old.
But the Belgian international does not want to move to the Middle East. That has left Juventus as the only viable destination for the veteran striker this summer. And the Serie A giants are lining up a new round of talks with Chelsea, with Cristiano Giuntoli travelling to London. Meanwhile, Chelsea will demand €40 million to part ways with the player.

Recent reports have painted a contradictory picture surrounding Lukaku’s future. While earlier claims pointed to an agreement on the transfer fee, the update by TMW suggests the Serie A giants are yet to pay €40 million to secure Lukaku’s services. So it will be interesting to see how the talks between Chelsea and Juventus progress.
