Manchester United will make a fresh offer of around €70 million for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who has reportedly agreed terms over a five-year contract worth €4.5 million a year plus bonuses.
According to Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, Manchester United want to close the deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund and are lining up a new bid worth an initial €70 million, rising to €75 million, including bonuses, in the next days.
The figure is understood to be enough for Atalanta to give the green light. The 20-year-old has already agreed personal terms and is set to earn €4.5 million per season plus bonuses that are set to increase year on year for the length of the five-year deal at Old Trafford.
With the transfer window well underway, Manchester United have made two moves with the signings of Mason Mount and Andre Onana. All of their focus now is on getting a new No. 9 to fit Erik ten Hag’s plan, though little movement has been achieved.
They have long been priced out of moves for both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen. But it appears the desire and ability to acquire either of these two quality strikers have rapidly diminished due to budget constraints. However, Rasmus Hojlund remains a consistent name in Manchester United’s transfer rumours.
Hojlund still has four years to run on his existing deal, having only joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last year. Since then, the Denmark international has netted an impressive six goals in five games for his country and ten goals in 34 appearances for La Dea.
Erik ten Hag believes the Dane is the right profile for his attack, and he can spearhead the Manchester United front line for years to come with the huge potential he possesses. The Serie A outfit started the negotiations with a steep €85 million price tag, with a verbal bid of around €60 million from United already having been rebuffed in the past.
The Red Devils made an attempt to drive down the price by offering players in part-exchange. However, Atalanta rejected this proposal, and the club are holding out for a straight fee for Hojlund. But they have since lowered their asking price and will now consider a package deal worth up to €75 million for their prized asset, as they need to land a replacement.
They are currently in talks with Almeria for El Bilal Traore, while they are now facing intense pressure from Manchester United and the player to accelerate the move, speeding up the negotiations as a result.
PSG are also interested in the 20-year-old as a potential Kylian Mbappe replacement. The Parisiens offered a higher wage to the striker than what Manchester United have put forward. But Hojlund wants to join the Red Devils and the Premier League. This week is likely to be quite vital in the whole transfer saga, with parties hoping to seal the deal by the weekend.
