Manchester United and Aston Villa are keen on having 26-year-old Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat in their ranks ahead of next season.

According to a report by Viola News, Manchester United and Aston Villa are ready to battle it out for the services of Sofyan Amrabat. The 26-year-old midfielder’s future has been uncertain for a while and he is expected to be on the move in the ongoing transfer window.

Amrabat came into the limelight on the back of his heroics in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He had an exceptional tournament and helped Morocco become the first African national team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

He backed it up with impressive performances in the second half of the 2022-23 season. The 26-year-old helped Fiorentina reach the finals of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Conference League. While they failed to win either of the trophies, Amrabat’s performances didn’t go in vain.

He has been on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe including Tottenham over the past six months. And, with his contract running out in 12 months’ time, the Italian club are ready to negotiate his departure. They are looking for a fee of €30 million for the 26-year-old and are in no mood to lower the asking price.

Atletico Madrid have been interested in the Moroccan international for a while now. They were in talks with the Italian club but the talks have come to a standstill of late. As a result, Spain no longer looks like a possible destination.

Meanwhile, the interest from the Premier League is still intact and the player is open to the idea of joining an English club. Manchester United and Aston Villa are interested in having the 26-year-old in their ranks.

Villa had an exceptional first season under Unai Emery last time out and they are ready to compete in Europe next season. Emery is looking to bolster his squad and he has his eyes set on Moroccan international.

Manchester United on the other hand are looking for a defensive midfielder who can help cover for Casemiro and start alongside the Brazilian when needed. Erik ten Hag believes Amrabat could do wonders for them, as a result, he wants him in their ranks.

While both clubs are interested in signing him, neither of them have placed an official bid so far. They have been in talks but are yet to make concrete moves. With the Italian club asking for €30 million, it will be interesting to see if either United or Villa put forward an offer close to that figure.
