Arsenal, Chelsea considering Axel Disasi swoop

Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of 25-year-old AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, who is on the radar of Manchester United.

According to a report by The Sun, AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi has been putting in some impressive shifts over the past few seasons, and his performances have not gone unnoticed. There is a lot of interest in the 25-year-old’s services, and there could be a bidding war for the French international in the ongoing window.

Arsenal and Chelsea are two clubs who have shown interest in the AS Monaco defender. Both the Premier League clubs are looking to bolster their defence ahead of next season and have their eyes on Disasi.

Even Manchester United are interested in the 25-year-old. The Red Devils had a decent first season under Erik Ten Hag last time out. However, they did struggle because of defensive depth towards the end. As a result, the Dutch manager is keen on reinforcing his backline.

The Manchester United boss is keen on having Disasi in their ranks because of his versatility. The 25-year-old is capable enough to feature as a right-back as well as centre-back, something that will be a luxury for the former Ajax manager.

But, the asking price set by the French club and the takeover issue are two things that make it difficult for the Red Devils to push for his signatures. Meanwhile, the French club have set an asking price of around £34 million on the 25-year-old, whose contract runs until the summer of 2025.

Arsenal were involved in the Premier League title race right until the end but ended up losing out at the very end. They ran out of gas because of a lack of quality depth. As a result, Mikel Arteta has been focused on making some big signings in the summer.

While he is interested in the 25-year-old’s services and is considering pushing for him, it is no longer a priority as they have already signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax. Meanwhile, Chelsea are desperate for defensive reinforcement.

With Kalidou Koulibaly no longer a part of the squad and Wesley Fofana out injured, Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a new defender and wants the Monaco centre-back at his disposal. But Manchester United should be the front-runners to sign the £34 million-rated defender.
