Sevilla will reportedly look to raid fellow La Liga club Real Madrid for the signature of Spanish midfielder Sergio Arribas.
According to a report by The Athletic, Sergio Arribas is the subject of interest from Sevilla. The Andalusian giants are one of several La Liga clubs keen on signing the Spanish midfielder. And they will look to approach Real Madrid for the signature of the youngster in the coming days.
Sergio Arribas has come a long way since joining Real Madrid from CD Leganes over a decade ago in July 2012. Since then, the 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the best young prospects in his homeland. And he has been an extraordinary performer for Real Madrid Castilla for a long time.
The Spaniard was excellent for Real Madrid Castilla last season, amassing 21 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances. But Arribas has seemingly reached the end of the line at Real Madrid Castilla and is ready for first-team action. And La Liga giants Sevilla will look to offer him the opportunity to play in the top flight.
The Andalusian giants are revamping their squad this summer after a disastrous 2022/23 La Liga season. While Sevilla won the UEFA Europa League for the umpteenth time, they were dreadful in the Spanish top flight. And after finishing outside the top half in the previous campaign, they will be eager to return to the top four next term.
Jose Luis Mendilibar needs to address the problems in the midfield unit. And upon closer look, it is clear that his squad has many players aged over 30. In addition, Thomas Delaney might not have much of a future at Sevilla after returning from his loan spell in Germany. So it behoves Los Nervionenses to invest in a central midfielder.
Sergio Arribas has thus emerged as a viable target for Sevilla. But they are yet to make the first move to sign the Real Madrid prospect. And with Borussia Dortmund keen on securing Arribas’s services, the Andalusian giants need to move quickly.
Meanwhile, the Spanish midfielder has also attracted attention from several other La Liga clubs, including Valencia. And it will be interesting to see where the 21-year-old lands this summer amid emerging interest from Sevilla.
