Aston Villa are all set to acquire the services of 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby in a deal worth over €50 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have managed to win the race for the signatures of Moussa Diaby. The 24-year-old was in red-hot form last season, and there was a lot of interest in his services. However, Villa have managed to come out on top and strike a deal in excess of €50 million for the services of the French international.

The arrival of Spanish manager Unai Emery has completely transformed the team. Villa were struggling for survival in the initial phase of the 2022/23 season when they appointed Emery. Post his arrival a lot changed, and they ended up finishing 7th in the league.

The Birmingham-based club managed to secure a place in the UEFA Conference League. And, ever since the end of the 2022/23 season, they have been quite busy with transfers. Emery had identified a few key areas that needed reinforcement, and they have already done some brilliant business.

Aston Villa have secured the services of Youri Tielemans on a free transfer and then managed to strike a deal with Villarreal for the services of Pau Torres. The arrival of Tielemans and Torres has bolstered their defence as well as midfield.

Post that, their focus has been on reinforcing their attack. Aston Villa had identified Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby as a key transfer target and had been in talks with the German club of late. Finally, they have managed to strike a deal for the services of Diaby who was involved in 25 goals last season.

The English club are ready to pay over €50 million for his services. They believe his arrival will add goals to their ranks and make them a lot more threatening going forward.

Diaby wanted to be a part of Emery’s project and has agreed on a deal with the English club. His desire to play in the Premier League has played a big part in the transfer as he has rejected the chance of playing with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

The Saudi club offered him a huge deal. But he decided against making the move to the Middle East. With all major details sorted, the final few steps should be completed in the coming days.
