Chelsea star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is all set to join Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille in the coming days.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Marseille are all set to complete the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Ligue 1 club have reached an agreement with Chelsea and the 34-year-old is all set to undergo his medical tomorrow.
The French club were keen on bolstering their attack in the ongoing transfer window. And, Aubameyang was one of their targets. They have been in talks with the Blues for a while now and have finally struck a deal for his services.
The player had already agreed on personal terms with the club a few days back. He is ready to pen down a three-year contract and is keen on making the move. While they had an agreement in place with the player, Marseille were trying to convince Chelsea regarding a free transfer and they have managed to do so.
With everything sorted, the player is all set to arrive at the French club’s camp tonight and he will undergo his medical as a new Marseille player tomorrow.
The deal seems to be a win-win situation for both clubs. Aubameyang was not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans moving ahead and he was earning a significant wage at the London club. As a result, his departure will help them balance their books.
Meanwhile, the French club were in search of attacking reinforcement and they have secured the services of a striker who has proved his worth in clubs across Europe.
The 34-year-old came into the limelight while playing for Borussia Dortmund before making the move to Arsenal. He featured in a total of 163 matches for the Gunners and racked 113 goal contributions.
In the winter of 2022, the former Dortmund striker made the move to Barcelona where he featured in a total of 24 matches and managed to contribute towards 14 goals. Ahead of the 2022/23 season, the Gabon international joined Chelsea. But things did not go according to plan for Aubameyang at the London club.
After a disappointing spell at Chelsea, the 34-year-old is all set to join the French club. While he might not have been at his best of late, the former Arsenal star can surely turn things around. With his medical set to take place tomorrow, an official announcement should follow shortly after that.
