Tottenham will reportedly demand €20 million to part ways with Giovani Lo Celso amid interest from Serie A champions Napoli.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Giovani Lo Celso is the subject of interest from Napoli. And the Serie A champions now know how much they will need to fork out to sign the Argentine midfielder. Tottenham will demand around €20 million to part ways with him in the ongoing transfer window.
Giovani Lo Celso has struggled to find a stable footing since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Real Betis. The 27-year-old was impressive in the 2019/20 campaign, when he was on loan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But he has blown hot and cold since then. And he has spent the last 18 months on loan away from the North London club.
The Argentine international, who joined Tottenham in a deal worth €32 million, moved to Villarreal in January 2022 and has returned to his parent club this summer. But Lo Celso might not be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for much longer amid emerging interest in his services. And Napoli will look to secure his services in the ongoing transfer window.
The Serie A champions have been interested in Lo Celso for a long time. But another Tottenham player, Tanguy Ndombele, spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Napoli. The Italian giants have now set their sights on the Argentine international again while also contacting Tottenham to discuss a move.
With Ndombele returning to Tottenham, the Napoli midfield unit has a vacant berth. But the Partenopei might need a player to be the first-choice starter amid uncertainties surrounding Piotr Zielinski. However, Tottenham’s asking price might pose a problem for Napoli.
While the North London giants do not expect to recoup €32 million from his sale, they will demand €20 million. Tottenham will ideally want €20 million as the base fee. But Napoli might succeed in agreeing to a deal worth that sum, including add-ons.
€20 million might be within Napoli’s budget if that is the value of the entire package. And it will be interesting to see if the Serie A champions produce a bid to secure Lo Celso’s services. For now, a move to Italy seems to be on the cards for the Argentine midfielder.
