Chelsea are all set to hold talks with Olympique Marseille regarding the transfer of 34-year-old forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Marseille are keen on having Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their ranks. The Ligue 1 club are all set to hold talks with Chelsea this week for the transfer of the 34-year-old.
Aubameyang’s best days are well behind him but he could still be a great asset for the French club. And, with the Blues ready to sell there is a real possibility of a transfer.
The 34-year-old was at the peak of his power while playing for Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal. He had spent around five years at the German club before making the move to the Gunners. The Gabon international featured in a total of 163 matches for the London club and contributed towards 113 goals.
His time at Arsenal came to an end in the winter of 2022 as he made the move to Barcelona. During his time in Spain, the former Dortmund striker featured in a total of 24 matches and managed to contribute towards 14 goals.
After a short stint at Barcelona, the 34-year-old joined Chelsea ahead of the 2022-23 season. But, things didn’t go according to plan for Aubameyang as he managed under 1000 minutes and was involved in just four goals in his 21 matches.
After a disappointing spell at the club, the Blues are ready to sell the former Arsenal forward as he is not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans moving ahead. With his contract running out in 12 months, it seems to be the right time to offload him and get a decent amount in return.
Olympique Marseille are the club interested in his services. The French club are keen on bolstering their attack and believe the arrival of Aubameyang will help their cause. He will add goals to their ranks and his experience could do wonders for them.
The Blues are all set to meet the French club and discuss the transfer of the 34-year-old this week. The player already has an agreement with Marseille regarding a three-year-long contract and the talks have been scheduled in order for the clubs to reach an agreement.
