Manchester United recently tabled a bid to sign Fiorentina midfield general Sofyan Amrabat, but the offer is below his asking price of €30 million.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Sofyan Amrabat is a top target for Manchester United. And the Red Devils have made an opening offer to sign the 26-year-old midfield general. But the bid falls below Fiorentina’s asking price of €30 million.
Sofyan Amrabat has become a hot property in the transfer market following his exploits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Moroccan international was sensational as the Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals. In addition, he has been going from strength to strength at Fiorentina.
The 26-year-old joined La Viola from Hellas Verona over three years ago. And he has turned out over 100 times for Fiorentina while chipping in with a goal and an assist. Amrabat’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. Meanwhile, Fiorentina will demand €30 million to sell him amid interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United will soon complete the signing of Andre Onana. The Cameroonian goalkeeper will become their second summer arrival after Mason Mount. And the Red Devils are now keen on landing a striker, with Rasmus Hojlund topping their wishlist. But Manchester United will also look to secure the services of another midfielder.
Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Scott McTominay face uncertain futures at Old Trafford. And with at least two of those players likely leaving this summer, Manchester United can do with another midfielder. In addition, Christian Eriksen is on the wrong side of 30 and does not have the endurance to last an entire season.
Amrabat is thus a viable target for Manchester United. And recent reports have claimed that the Red Devils lead the race to secure the Moroccan midfielder’s services. They have now submitted their opening bid. But the report claims that Manchester United’s offer falls below Fiorentina’s asking price of €30 million.

It is unclear if Manchester United will be willing to table an improved bid to get closer to the €30 million that La Viola will demand. But the deal to sign the 26-year-old will likely drag on for a few more weeks before it materialises.
