Manchester United are reportedly set to complete a deal to sign their top summer target Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
According to 90min, Manchester United have now agreed on a €50 million deal to sign Andre Onana. Inter Milan will also be due an additional €4 million in add-ons in the deal for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.
Onana was outstanding for Inter Milan this past season, and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the Red Devils. Manchester United needed to sign a quality goalkeeper after the departure of David De Gea, and the 27-year-old emerged as the top target.
Onana has worked under Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag during their time together at Ajax. So he should be able to fit into the Dutchman’s style of play with ease. The 27-year-old seems like the ideal fit for Manchester United given their current style of play.
The reported €50 million deal could look like a bargain if the 27-year-old manages to hit the ground running. He has proven himself at the highest level with Inter Milan and has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well. The 27-year-old was crucial to Inter Milan’s run to the UEFA Champions League final last season.
He will be looking to make his mark in the Premier League now and win major trophies with Manchester United. Meanwhile, the Red Devils might need to sign another goalkeeper as an understudy to Onana especially if Dean Henderson leaves the club this summer.
The Manchester United goalkeeper needs to leave Old Trafford in order to play regular first-team football. It will be interesting to see where he ends up, with recent reports linking him with Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months, and it remains to be seen who they end up signing apart from Onana. Meanwhile, Inter Milan will have to find a quality replacement for the 27-year-old goalkeeper, and they have been linked with a move for the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in recent weeks.
Onana was an indispensable asset for Inter Milan last season, and they will have to replace him adequately if they want to do well next season. Meanwhile, apart from the €50 million base fee, Inter will also receive €4 million in add-ons based on certain clauses.
