West Ham United’s €17 million offer to acquire the services of 28-year-old Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo has been rejected.
According to Papa Mahmoud Gueye, West Ham United have failed to acquire the services of Habib Diallo. The Hammers are keen on attacking reinforcement and have their eyes set on the 28-year-old. They recently placed a €17 million bid to sign him, but it has been rejected by Strasbourg.
Diallo has been subject to a lot of interest from the Premier League of late. Multiples want him in their ranks, and the Hammers are one of them. However, their first attempt has failed, but they can surely return with a stronger bid as they do have the financial strength.
The 28-year-old is on the radar of multiple top clubs because of his heroics in the 2022/23 season. He featured in a total of 38 matches and managed to score 20 goals.
Diallo has been at RC Strasbourg since October 2020, and he has featured in over 100 matches. But, he only has 41 goals in total and almost half of those can last season. He is in the form of his life and that is why there is significant interest in his services.
He came through the ranks at FC Metz before making the move to Strasbourg. He has slowly gone from strength to strength since making the move. And, at this point in time, there are multiple clubs after his services. But West Ham have jumped the gun by making the first move and submitting a bid.
While the Ligue 1 club have rejected the €17 million bid, he could still be on the move in the ongoing window given the amount of interest in his services. The Hammers were not at their best last season. They struggled in the Premier League and somehow managed to avoid relegation. One of their major concerns throughout was their form in front of the goal.
While winning the UEFA Europa Conference League surely helps their cause, it cannot wash away the fact that they desperately need to reinforce their attack. As a result, they could once again push for the 28-year-old’s services with an improved bid.
