Tottenham Hotspur receive a major boost in their quest of keeping their record goal scorer Harry Kane at the club.
According to a report by the Evening Standard, Harry Kane will not push for a move away from Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing window. He is all set to allow the club to make a decision regarding his future. However, the 29-year-old doesn’t intend on signing a new deal with the club at this point in time.
Kane’s future has been the talk of the town ever since the 2022-23 season ended. The England international’s contract with Spurs runs out next summer. As a result, there is a lot of interest from clubs across Europe.
At one point in time, Manchester United were keen on having him in their ranks. However, they have dropped their interest because of Tottenham’s unwillingness to sell to a rival club.
Meanwhile, German giants Bayern Munich have been interested in his services of late. According to reports, they have an agreement in principle with the player and have been in talks with Spurs over a potential deal.
The London club have already rejected two bids from Bayern. The second bid was around £70 million plus add-ons. While Spurs’ intention is to keep him at the club, one cannot rule out a move in the ongoing window with his contract running out.
Tottenham won’t want to lose out of their best player for free next season and reports suggest a fee in excess of £100 million could make things happen. But, the decision at this point in time solely depends on Spurs.
Kane has decided that he won’t push for a move like he did back in 2021 when he wanted to join Manchester City. The 29-year-old striker has already reported for pre-season training and is all set to leave for Perth for the club’s pre-season tour this evening.
Meanwhile, Spurs have offered him a new lucrative deal that will significantly increase his £200,000-a-week wages. However, the England international is not keen on extending his stay until the end of the window. And, it will depend on how the team does under their new manager Ange Postecoglou.
While Kane’s decision to not push for a move away from the club is a positive, they still have a lot to think about given that his contract will be over next summer and he could leave for free.
